Mountain Tourism
Thethi is a great place to visit if you are looking for a combination of beautiful landscapes and traditional Albanian hospitality. This village is surrounded by walls of picturesque mountains that show great biodiversity. Thethi is the perfect destination for walking and cultural tours. This trip offers a spectacular hike through Thethi and its surroundings. You will be accommodated in one of the village houses owned by a local family called HAN . They will prepare a very traditional Albanian meal for you. You will also have time to visit Shkoder and take a walk up to the ruins of the Rozafa castle, where you can admire the breathtaking view of one of the largest lakes in Europe.

Breakfast: Fried or boiled egg as desired, Cheese, butter, jam, honey pancakes , sausages, maze or mountain milk cream, fresh milk.
Lunch: ( home-cooked meal by a local family) season salads, cottage cheese, parsley or curd, different pie , lamb or beef with fried potatoes ,fresh buttermilk or yogurt as desired. Pilaf(Albanian rice) with meat, pasta with fresh butter (Albanian tradition) Grape or plum brandy ( RAKI ) as desired.
Dinner: ( home-cooked meal by a local family) season salads, cottage cheese, sour cream or crud, Soup or different dish for example.beans, which is one of the traditional dishes of the area, fresh yogurt.
Participants should note that there could be weather changes in the mountains. Therefore, it is recommended that you wear appropriate shoes for a walk in the mountains (hiking shoes or trainers) and carry an extra layer (preferably wind and water proof) in case of any weather change.
What to bring: Breathable light-weight waterproof gear (goretex, sympatex, etc), fleece/wool pullovers/wind-stopper jackets and gloves, small backpack with rain coverage, cap, sun block, mosquito repellent, head lamp, hiking poles, water bottle, sun glasses/block.
Terrain during the hikes: This trail is characterized by lots of descents and ascents. The route passes over engraved relief representing alpine terrain with steep slopes, mountain river valleys carved into the mountains, rocky peaks, belts of mountain pine, etc. However, the chosen paths are mostly well trodden underfoot and safe.
Rooming Our trips are based on participants sharing twin bedded rooms in hotels. If you are travelling alone you will be placed in a room with someone of the same sex.In the guesthouses in the north you will be sleeping in shared dorm rooms.
Children policy : Children joining this tour should have experience with hiking. An adult need accompany children under 18.
Day 1
Departing from Tirana toward Shkodra, and travelling further through the wonderful valley of Boga where the road climbs towards the steep Thore Pass (1700m), that descends into the Thethi valley. At the pass we will stop at Ms. Edith Durham memorial – a very nice panoramic spot*. After we arrive, we will start exploring the attractions of Thethi on foot: the church (750m), the blood feud tower, the waterfall, etc., followed by dinner and overnight in a guesthouse (900m)**.
Day 2
After breakfast, we will start walking towards Nderlysa (12km) (510m altitude), and further to the Blue Eye pool (670m altitude) and the valley of Kaprea. On our way back, we will stop in the lovely hamlet of Nderlysa to have lunch at a village house with a splendid rural setting. Afterwards, we return to Thethi and relax while the sun sets in the valley. Dinner and overnight are arranged in a guesthouse*.
Day 3
Relaxed breakfast before starting the drive back towards Tirana, with a stop on the road for a quick visit of Shkodra centre, the Etnographic Museum and the Rozafa Fortress
